Privacy policy

Phrida is a music player made by Federico Rubino. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app. In short: Phrida has no account, no advertising and no tracking, and the developer does not receive your library or listening history.
Information on your device
To show your library, play music and calculate statistics, Phrida stores the following on your device: references to your music and audiobooks, playlists, loved songs, listening history, audiobook progress, your preferences and cached artwork. This information is not sent to the developer.
iCloud sync
If Sync with iCloud is on (Settings › Advanced), Phrida keeps your loved songs, listening history, Apple Music items you added or loved in Phrida, and your preferences in sync between your devices. This data is stored in your private iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit and iCloud key-value storage. It is protected by your Apple Account, and the developer cannot access it. You can turn sync off at any time. To delete the synced data, open the Settings app › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage and remove Phrida’s data.
Apple Music
With your permission, Phrida uses Apple’s MusicKit and Media Player frameworks to read your Apple Music library, search the catalog, play songs and download artwork. These requests go directly to Apple and are covered by Apple’s privacy policy. You can disconnect Apple Music in Phrida and manage the permission in the Settings app.
Google Cast
Phrida only starts Google Cast when you open the Cast picker. When you use it, playback information and, for your own files, the audio and artwork are sent over your local network to the device you choose. The Google Cast SDK may send Google technical information such as a device identifier, diagnostic data and how the Cast feature is used, to run and improve Cast. This information is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking. Google’s privacy policy applies. Apple Music streams are never sent to Cast devices.
AirPlay and CarPlay
When you use AirPlay or CarPlay, playback information is handled by Apple’s systems.
Photos and files
Phrida asks for photo access only when you choose a picture for an artist, and saves to your photo library only when you ask it to. Files you add from a cloud location are handled by the file provider you choose. Statistics or images are shared only through the share sheet, when you decide to share them.
Advertising and tracking
Phrida contains no advertising and no analytics SDK, and it does not track you across apps or websites.
Children
Phrida is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Keeping and deleting your data
Data on your device stays until you remove it in the app or delete the app. Synced data stays in your iCloud account until you delete it as described above. Device backups follow your own iCloud or computer backup settings.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
